DALLAS LAW FIRM TABER ESTES THORNE & CARR DESIGNATED FOR SPECIAL STATUS BY STATE OF TEXAS

DALLAS —The Dallas-based law firm of Taber Estes Thorne & Carr PLLC has earned certification from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts as a Historically Underutilized Business. The HUB designation is designed to promote the participation of businesses that are women and minority-owned in state agency procurement opportunities.

“Each state agency in Texas is required to make a good faith effort to use HUBs for all types of professional service contracts, while the private sector is also increasingly diligent about meeting corporate diversity hiring criteria,” says Dawn Estes, a co-founder of the new, Dallas-based firm. “As a new, wholly woman-owned firm we are very pleased to receive this recognition.” According to the State of Texas a “Historically Underutilized Business” is an entity with its principal place of business in Texas that is at least 51 percent- owned by an Asian Pacific American, Black American, Hispanic American, Native American and/or American woman. Majority owners must reside in Texas and have an active interest and participation in the control, operations and management of the business. Any firm seeking certification as a HUB is required to submit an application and supporting documentation to the comptroller’s office.

Recently Taber Estes Thorne & Carr earned certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, the most widely recognized and respected certification in the United States for firms seeking to promote diversity and inclusion in the hiring of professional service providers.

Taber Estes Thorne & Carr PLLC is one of the few women-owned law firms in Dallas. It features a collaborative team of highly experienced attorneys, representing clients in business litigation, labor and employment, family law, health care and insurance matters.
