Our latest industry accolade comes from U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers in America, which collaborate to pull together the prestigious annual Best Law Firms guide.

Eight Years Among the Nation’s Best Law Firms

For the eighth year in a row, Estes Thorne & Carr has been placed among the nation’s best law firms in the Best Law Firms guide. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we ranked as a top law firm for commercial litigation and employment law. We were also recognized in the publication for our arbitration, family law, labor law and construction litigation practices.

Even More Good News This Year

Being a “Best” Law Firm means you have some talented attorneys, and we are proud of the individual recognitions our lawyers have garnered so far this year:

• Seven Named Best Lawyers – Dawn Estes, Jessica Thorne, Lori Carr, Carol Payne, Katherine Anand, Lindsay Daye Barbee and Abby Ewing were selected by their peers to The Best Lawyers in America guide. These seven attorneys represented eight unique practice areas, with several of them honored for work in more than one area of practice.
• Six Selected as Super Lawyers – Dawn, Jessica, Lori, Carol and Abby, as well as Linda Moore, were recognized in the 2019 Texas Super Lawyers listing, an honor earned by no more than 5 percent of Texas attorneys.
• One Earns Top 100 in Texas, Again – Dawn earned special recognition from Texas Super Lawyers for a third consecutive year among the Top 100 Attorneys in the state, regardless of practice focus.
• Two Listed as Top 50 Females in Texas, Again – Dawn and Carol were both named two of Texas’ Top 50 Female Attorneys, as well as two of the Top 100 Attorneys in Dallas-Fort Worth, by Texas Super Lawyers. Dawn has been included on these lists consistently since 2015, and Carol has been named to the lists since 2016.

We Grew Our Family of Attorneys

While the industry honors are wonderful to receive, we are even more excited to be growing our family here at Estes Thorne & Carr by adding some extraordinary lawyers in practice areas that will strengthen our advocacy for our clients. However, our expansion will never change our personalized approach and collaborative environment that put our clients at the heart of what we do.

Our Family Law Group Expands to Five

In August, we announced that we grew our family law group to five attorneys by adding Abby Ewing as a firm partner and associates Stephanie Matherne and Claire James.

Top-Tier Talent Joins Our Litigation Practice

At the same time, we added new legal talent adept at solving complex business matters in a boutique, collaborative atmosphere. Tonya Johannsen, former general counsel of The Beck Group, joined the firm as partner. We also welcomed labor and employment attorney Monica Narvaez to the firm as partner and business litigation attorney Ana Forcum as associate.

You Are Always a Part of Our Success

We know that our clients have allowed us to establish this successful track record and provided us with the means to strengthen our practice. But we aren’t done yet; there’s still more left to do in 2019. However, we did want to stop for a bit and smell the roses (or should it be the rosé?), kick off our heels and share a toast to celebrate some of our outstanding accomplishments and the people who make it possible.
